Jamie is an architect and illustrator, trained in architecture and urban design. He grew up in Korea and later studied architecture and urban design at Harvard University, exploring the interplay between spatial thinking and visual art.

His work is rooted in everyday experiences with his daughter and family, focusing on narrative illustration that transforms real-life emotions and memories into imaginative, poetic scenes. Through the emotional experiences gained from family life, he translates personal memories into artistic imagination, offering readers a space where they can naturally recall their own family stories.

While his illustrations originate from architectural thinking, the final works are guided by emotion and memory. He combines clear forms and spatial structure with warm colors and the narrative potential of blank space, creating a distinctive style that resonates emotionally with both children and adults.

Through his work, Jamie continually explores themes of a father’s perspective, diversity and inclusion, the presence and identity of people of color, and the growth of family as a community. He believes that picture books are an emotional narrative experience co-created with the reader.
